CPR Classes

CPR Classes

Published & Foreward by: Sean Rogers

We all know CPR is a household phrase. But most people don't know what it stands for. More importantly they don't know how to use it in case of emergency. The article below tells what CPR classes are, why they should be taken, and what will be learned. It even gives a few tips on where to find classes. It's a must read if you have family members you care about.

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) classes range from the traditional, wherein you have to attend classes from anywhere between four to six hours or online classes that have additional hands-on skill classes. Most courses teach how to recognize an emergency, caring for conscious and unconscious choking victims, recognizing signs of a heart attack, rescue breathing and the basic techniques of adult CPR. Usually this includes an introduction on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The AED is most commonly found in airports and other public areas for those trained to use the device.

The Emergency Cardiovascular Programs Department of the American Heart Association (AHA) offers several courses. The CPR Heartsaver and the AED course is intended for the general public and teaches the basic techniques of adult, child and infant CPR, how to use an AED, what barrier devices are and what to do for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and foreign-body airway obstruction. It also teaches ways to prevent many childhood emergencies.

The AHAs BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider includes adult and pediatric CPR, mouth to mask techniques, bag valve mask use, foreign-body airway obstruction and two-rescuer CPR. The Heartsaver First Aid course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. It also trains the lay rescuer or non-healthcare professional the proper techniques of emergency response and basic first aid. The management of common medical emergencies (diabetes, environmental, seizure, allergic reactions) and traumatic injuries (shock, burns, bleeding, fractures) are covered.

Several universities conduct weekend courses covering information about adult CPR and first aid. For those who have taken the courses, re-certification classes are also available. Ideally, you should check that classes are Nationally Recognized U.S. Govt. approved, and compliant with organizations like the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association ECC Guidelines.

CPR Classes provides detailed information on CPR, CPR Classes, CPR Training, CPR Instructions and more. CPR Classes is affiliated with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator.

Would you rather catch bird flu or mad cow disease??

What is Bird Flu?

Guess what, Bird Flu has been around for more than 100 years, and there are 15 different types. It can jump from different birds species which is unusual. The modern version now affects humans. It has infected more than 250 people, mainly in south east Asia. Most animal viruses never affect humans.

What are the first symptoms?

Early symptoms are simular to common-or-garden flu - high temperature, coughing and aches. But within a few days, their breathing becomes far worse and they are seriously ill.

Are you taking a vaccine or taking your chances?

7 Easy Tips for Staying Young

Oh to be young again!! We live in a fast paced world filled with work, traffic, responsibilities, bills, etc. At the same time we enjoy the blessings of family, friends, and vacations.

As adults wouldn’t it be great if we could continue to enjoy the fresh energy and peace we experienced as children. The good news is it’s not too late feel good and enjoy life. Regardless of the economy we have no control over. As a specialist of health, life, and disability insurance, I have strive to make sure all of my friends, family, and all of California have protection policies with me but never have to use them.

Here are 7 easy tips for staying young.

1. Meditate

Until I posted this entry in my blog, only a few close friends and family members knew I meditate on a regular basis. Meditation reduces stress levels, helps keep positive power throughout your body, and combats worries and anxieties. A great leader in this field is Wayne Dyer. I stumbled upon his work on a PBS special and ended up reading his book “The Power of Intention”. Through a regular practice of meditation one can maintain a positive, illumined and youthful mind.

2. Exercise Regularly

You don’t have to be like the Terminator in his prime but regular moderate exercise can do wonders. I personally try to exercise in some form or fashion 3 – 4 times per week. It promotes longevity, builds and maintains strength, flexibility, makes you feel alive, and most importantly you won’t have to call me for a disability claim.

3. Eat a well balanced diet.

If you know me you know I’m a sort of picky eater. It’s by design. I’m not perfect but I try to monitor what goes in my body temple. Studies show that a balanced diet with vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains provides fantastic nutrition for a fit and active body.

4. Eliminate!!

Oh, oh. Are you addicted to anything? To keep a youthful body do away with harmful influences in your life. Smoking, drugs, alcohol and junk food run the body down. Eliminate them to ensure a happier, healthier and more youthful life.

5. Be Creative

Creativity keeps your juices flowing. Notice how kids love music, painting, dancing, writing, etc. What happened? What stopped you from enjoying that freedom? Get in touch with your own unique creativity. A very nice lady who moved to Sweden gave me her old guitar as a gift. It’s time for me to take lessons!!

6. Give joy to others

Givers are winners. When you freely offer your own joy, happiness and generosity to others you nurture your own treasure-chest of good qualities. Be like a child and give joy to others!

7. Laugh

Studies show children laugh an average of 300 times a day, while adults laugh just 30 times per day. Laughter is positive energy. Laughter is an expression of inner happiness. When you are laughing you are not worrying or despairing which are exclusively adult pastimes. Spend time with people, and do things that make you laugh.

I hope those proven tips help you. If you have more ideas on the subject or comments to share with the world just leave it in the comment box below.
